Why Should I Hire You?

Next

Here are a few suggestions to help you stay on track.

  • Never argue for your limitations. It's easy to start thinking in terms of what's missing if you've been out of work for a long time but arguing for your limitations will never bring you the work you seek. Focus instead on how you can position your unique skills and abilities to support a potential employer's goals. Pay particular attention to the things that are so easy for you that they seem unimportant. Ask yourself what sets you apart, what makes you different.

  • Fill in the gaps. If there is knowledge, skills or experience you want or need, set about getting them and brag about your efforts to do so instead of shining a spotlight on what you don't have.
